Pitt Football Finishes in Top 15

When the final AP Rankings were released on Sunday I thought that Pitt would be in the Top 15 for sure, and I was right. The Panthers finished number 15 in the AP thanks to a strong finish effort in the Meineke Car Care Bowl against North Carolina. The leg of Dan Hutchins is to thank as he went 4-5 in the 19-17 victory back in December.

What does this mean?

  • The Panthers finish in the top 15 for the first time since January of 1982 when Marino was at the helm.
  • It is Pitt’s first ten win season since 1981
  • Pitt has 19 wins in 2008 and 2009 combined, the highest number of wins in a two year span since 1981-1982

There is no doubt that Pitt is climbing towards higher goal for the 2010 season and I can’t wait to see what they do.
