Halftime Report: Pitt 32, UConn 29

Well, things are going as well as I expected in this game. Like I said Gibbs and Wannamaker would give some offense, Gibbs 1-1 from 3-point and 9 points, Wannamaker has 6 points but 2 fouls which kept him out for the last 5 minutes of the second half. Gilbert Brown and Ashton Gibbs lead Pitt scorers with 9 points each. Pitt is playing great half-court defense. When they let UConn run in transition they are finding that they are getting beat. They forced a lot of early UConn turnovers and made it hard for UConn to get anything in the paint. Pitt was in the 1-and-1 bonus at the end of the half, and commited 6 team fouls. UConn went to a 2-2-1 fullcourt press shortly, but then shifted back to their halfcourt set. The Panthers are doing a great job of hedgeing and boxing out, two necessities in Big East games. If Pitt keeps playing good defense and can find some more 3 pointers from Gibbs and Brown they should be in good shape and live up to my prediction.
