Panthers survive Louisville in OT

Pitt gave me quite a scare but made me happy in the end with their 82-77 win vs. the Louisville Cardinals. The #16 Panthers trailed most of the second half and were down by 5 with less than a minute to go in regulation. Brad Wannamaker hit a three and then hit 2 foul shots to tie it up with under 2 seconds left. Sophomore Nasir Robinson scored a career high 26 points to help make Pitt 5-0 in Big East play.

Not Pitt sits at 15-2 overall and 5-0 in the Big East and is currently the number 1 team in the conference. This is now Pitt’s 31st win in a row at the Petersen Events Center, second to only Kanas(51) in active wins in a row at home.

Sophomore Nasir Robinson dropped 26 against Louisville

This was a big day on the offensive end, but a little bit of a let down defensively. Their switching on screens and boxing out was poor resulting in easy Louisville points. This was the case until it mattered most in OT. Pitt is lucky that Louisville decided to quit making free throws late in the game. They were 10 for 17 from the free throw line and that is why Rick Pitino’s squad is now 12-6 overall and 3-2 and Big East play.

The Panthers will host #11 Georgetown on Wednesday in which will be a game of two top 15 teams. More on that game to come later in the week, but for now we can rest easy and say Go Pitt.
