Pitt announces new receivers coach

The only coaching vacancy for the Pitt Panthers football team has been filled. Former offensive assistant Scott Turner will replace Bryan Bossard. He was promoted to this position with high regard by head coach Dave Wannstedt. In the words of Wannsdtedt:

“Scott Turner was a major contributor in our offensive staff room this past season, he is a very bright football coach whose strong knowledge is matched by his equally strong energy and commitment. Our receivers are going to benefit tremendously from his influence. He is also going to be a great asset on the recruiting trail, especially in his assigned areas of Maryland, Virginia and Washington D.C.”

The fomer UNLV quarterback Turner, joined Pittsburgh’s staff in 2008. He is the son of San Diego Charger’s coach Norv Turner who was a friend of Wannstedts during their careers with the Cowboys and Dolphins. Surely Turner is as excited as I am with the receivers he will get for 2010. Jonathan Baldwin will be back along with coming out star Mike Shanahan. I think he’ll be a good fit for the position.
