Panthers lose in the long “Hall”

This has to be one of the most disappointing losses of the season. Pitt never was in control of the game and failed to come back at the end of the game. Ashton Gibbs did have a turn around game with 23 points and went 14-14 on the free throw line. This is a big win for the Pirates and Pitt is now on a 2 game losing skid and are not playing like they did against UConn. It’s pretty sad when you turn the ball over 20 times in a game. Winning a game is hard to come by when you commit that many turnovers.

Pitt's Jermaine Dixon scored 11 points in a losing effort

Seton Hall won the game while not having their best player Jeremy Hazell for most of the game with foul trouble, including one technical foul in the first half. Pitt only trailed by four at the half, but the Pirates Herb Pope scored 19 points and had 9 boards to lead Seton Hall to the victory.

This a setback for the Panthers. They now have 4 losses and are 5-2 in conference play. These are they games they need to win to advance to the NCAA Tournament at the end of the season. When the committee looks at losses, Indiana and Seton Hall will stick out like a sore thumb. They really need to win their next two games against Saint John’s and USF before they travel to Morgantown. This stretch of games could determine the Panthers season.
